Frequently asked questions

You have questions; we’ve got answers!

Since the 1930s, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation has supported many leadership programs across the globe. This created a network of thousands of individuals who are associated with current and former WKKF leadership programs, which we are calling the Global Fellows Network (GFN). The network’s purpose is to create opportunities for connection, collaboration and action among the fellows so they can have a greater impact in making transformative change in systems, policies and practices.

WKKF has invested in the development of leaders for more than 90 years. While we have supported many fellowship programs, many designed and implemented outside of WKKF, here is the list of signature leadership programs that are part of WKKF’s Global Fellows Network. If you think you’re a fellow and want to learn more, contact us at GlobalFellowsNetwork@WKKF.org.

  • Kellogg National Fellowship/Leadership Program (1980–2002)
  • Kellogg International Fellowship Program—Food Systems (1985–1990)
  • Kellogg International Fellowship Program—Health (1986–1990)
  • Food Fellows (1986–2013):
    • Food & Society Policy Fellowship
    • Food & Policy Fellows
    • Food & Community Fellows
  • Kellogg International Leadership Program (1989–1998)
  • Community Partnership with Health Professions Education (1991–1996)
  • Health Fellows & Scholars (1998–2012):
    • Community Health Scholars Program
    • Scholars in Health Disparities Program
    • Kellogg Fellows in Health Policy Research
  • Latin American and Caribbean Social Leadership Scholarship Program (2000–2019)
  • Kellogg Southern Africa Leadership Program (2003–2014)
  • Kellogg Programa de Fortalecimiento/Liderazgo (2010–2012)
  • Leadership Development Program for Racial and Gender Equality—Northeast Brazil (2011–2014)
  • WKKF Community Leadership Network (2014–present)

In early 2020, WKKF transitioned the support and management of the network from the Kellogg Fellows Leadership Alliance (KFLA) in-house in order to create a more direct relationship between the fellows and the foundation, fostering their ability to connect, collaborate and act.

By strengthening our relationship, we hope to leverage fellows’ expertise, knowledge and influence on foundation priorities on the ground in communities. The foundation also seeks to draw upon fellows’ experience and wisdom related to its mission to create lasting, transformational change for children and in its commitments to racial equity, community engagement and leadership—what we call our DNA.

Our current signature leadership program in the United States is the Community Leadership Network (CLN). CLN is offered through our partner the Center for Creative Leadership and supports local leaders to connect, grow and lead transformational change toward a more equitable society. These leaders come from communities across the country; however, we put special emphasis on developing leaders from our priority communities: Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico and New Orleans. As leaders graduate from CLN, they join the Global Fellows Network.

We encourage you to visit the CLN site for updates on our current programs and upcoming fellowships.
